Our Dual Immersion program offers children a unique and exciting opportunity to learn to read, write and communicate naturally in two languages, English and Spanish. Dual Immersion is a 50% English and 50% Spanish standards-based educational program. This program provides a sound basis for academic excellence for all students as well as meeting the goal for foreign language learning as a core subject. The program is designed for students to begin in kindergarten and move up the grade levels until fifth grade.
Students are assigned to an English speaking teacher and a Spanish-speaking teacher. Each teaches exclusively in that language. They deliver a unified curriculum based on the California state standards with high expectations in both English and Spanish.
The vision for Rod Kelley’s Dual Immersion Program is “All students who enroll in the will be promoted from 5th grade, fluent in Spanish and English. Students will be prepared and inspired to continue their education in dual language middle and high schools, then in an institution of higher education, so that they become successful bilingual, biliterate, bicultural citizens throughout their lives”
